Short CV

Tamás Röszer is a Senior Research Scientist in Pediatrics, and a research group leader at the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Debrecen, Hungary. His chief research focus is the neuroendocrine control of metabolism, especially in context of pediatric obesity. He studied Molecular Medicine at Debrecen University, Hungary (1997–2002), earned his PhD in Neurobiology (2005), habilitated in 2012 at Eötvös University, Budapest, Hungary and in 2019 at Ulm University, Germany. He is a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Medicine/Pediatrics (2025). Previously he was a lecturer at Debrecen University (2002–2005), research fellow of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2005–2009), research fellow of the Spanish National Cardiovascular Research Center in Madrid (2009–2014), guest professor and lecturer (Privatdozent) of Ulm University, Germany (2014–2022).He is the author of several research articles in the field of pediatric obesity, immunometabolism and endocrinology, with a cumulative impact factor 269. He is the author of university lecture books and reference books, including two monographs. His major contribution to the field of understanding of the metabolic effects of breastfeeding is the identification of breast milk-specific lipids that control adipocyte developmental program in the newborn.

Research Interest

Effects of breast milk lipid molecules on perinatal thermogenesis and adipogenesis. Role of the innate immune signaling on mitochondrial functions in the newborn. Early life origin of obesity.

Lab Skills

Isolation and culture of adipocytes, gene expression analysis, flow cytometry of adipocytes and adipose tissue-associated immune cells, metabolic phenotyping.
